Decontamination Supervisor

About the Role

We are inviting motivated individuals to join our team as a Decontamination Supervisor within the Endoscopy Unit based at the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbrân. This position involves supporting managerial staff in daily operational activities and leading a team to ensure customer needs are met along with overseeing performance reviews and training of team members.

Work Schedule

The role requires working hours from 14:00 to 22:00 on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise junior staff to ensure adherence to competence standards.
• Train team members on proper cleaning procedures for new and reusable medical equipment.
• Communicate daily with colleagues and service users to maintain smooth operations.
• Report operational issues beyond the supervisor’s expertise to management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Standard computer skills to manage and oversee tracking systems for sterile services and endoscopy decontamination.
• Qualification in English language.
• Technical Certificate from the Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc), NVQ Level 3 in Decontamination, or equivalent, with additional training to Diploma level or comparable knowledge.
• In-depth understanding of ISO13485:2016 and Medical Device Directive (MDD) 93/42/EEC standards.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Welsh Health Technical Memorandum (WHTM) guidelines relevant to departmental production.
• Hands-on familiarity with all laboratory equipment and ability to troubleshoot when needed.

Desirable qualifications include math or science certification and an ISO13485 internal auditor certificate.

Experience

• Significant experience in Sterile Services Departments, including supervisory roles.
• Experience performing internal audits is a plus.

• Good written and spoken communication skills.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

• Welsh language skills are welcomed but not required.
