Facilities Technician

About the Role

Auckland One Rail is looking for a practical and hands-on Facilities Technician to join the team supporting the upkeep and operation of our depot facilities and infrastructure. In this role, reporting directly to the Depots and Facility Delivery Manager, you will ensure that our facilities, plant, and equipment remain safe, reliable, and fully functional.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct both preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems and infrastructure.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and building assets.
• Carry out general building maintenance tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping.
• Provide support during facility shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and refurbishment initiatives.
• Maintain precise maintenance logs utilizing Maximo and other relevant systems.
• Assist with asset inspections, condition assessments, and managing external contractors.
• Respond promptly to any facility breakdowns or service requests.
• Promote and uphold a strong culture of health, safety, and quality across all activities.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building, or a related discipline at NZQA Level 4 or equivalent.
• Hold any applicable practising licences relevant to the trade.
• Experience working in facilities, plant, or industrial maintenance environments.
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals confidently.
• Comfortable and proficient in computer use, with familiarity in maintenance management software.
