About the Role
We are seeking a proficient Faultsperson who prioritizes safety and excels in a dynamic, fast-moving work setting. This crucial role focuses on ensuring the power network's safety, reliability, and optimal performance during planned activities, unexpected faults, or emergency scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include executing authorized switching, testing, and earthing of network equipment during both scheduled and unscheduled operations, maintaining the network’s safe and dependable functioning. The role requires swift fault response through problem diagnosis, hazard isolation, and power restoration in a secure manner. It also involves emergency duties such as electrical isolations at accident sites and hazard control. You will uphold or surpass operational, regulatory, and customer standards while actively supporting performance and service objectives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to manage complex situations under pressure and implement effective solutions.
Additionally, the Faultsperson will support and guide team members through daily supervision and hands-on assistance. This includes allocating workloads, delegating tasks based on individual skills and competencies, and fostering professional development. Promoting open communication and collaboration to cultivate a positive and high-achieving team environment while modeling behaviors aligned with Northpower’s values is also a key aspect.

Experience and Qualifications
Candidates must hold a recognized electrical qualification (New Zealand or international) and a current valid driver's license. Prior experience as an Electrician, Cable Jointer, or Line Mechanic is necessary, with preference given to those with standby and switching experience. A strong safety record and dedication to safe working practices, along with passion for excellent customer service, are crucial.
