Role overview

Cater Care is looking for an experienced handyperson with some utility background to support remote mining villages across Queensland, Australia. This is a permanent full-time position based out of Brisbane, with fly-in fly-out or drive-in drive-out arrangements available.

The role covers a mix of general maintenance, cleaning, and support tasks across a number of QLD sites, including Ernest Henry, Bauxite Hills, Ravenswood, Ensham, Baralaba, Jellinbah, Clarke Creek, Lake Vermont, Cracow, and Archers Village.

Employment is full time, with roster patterns such as 2/1 or 8/6. Shifts can run for 10, 11, or 11.5 hours. The salary range is $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation.

Key duties

• Carry out routine handyperson work such as changing locks, door handles, washers, and light bulbs, along with general camp upkeep.
• Maintain shared spaces by emptying bins, sweeping, mopping, and completing other cleaning tasks.
• Support the wider utility team when needed, including housekeeping and kitchen hand duties.
• Load and unload trucks on delivery days.
• Assist with gardening and grounds maintenance.
• Perform basic plumbing tasks.
• Operate power tools safely and effectively.
• Collect and dispose of waste and rubbish.

Requirements

• A current Australian driver’s licence.
• Experience in grounds and maintenance work within a hospitality setting.
• A valid forklift licence.
• A National Police Clearance issued within the last 6 months.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• A motivated, positive, and proactive attitude.
• Good physical fitness and the ability to handle repetitive tasks and long shifts.
• Comfort working in a busy, fast-moving environment.
• Willingness to complete a pre-employment medical.
• Ability to work across different weather conditions.
