Financial Controller

Role Overview

Take charge of all financial aspects within the company, including reporting, accounting, treasury, tax compliance, governance, and operational finance. Ensure accurate financial documentation, maintain robust control systems, manage liquidity effectively, and provide strategic financial insights to the executive team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct financial reporting, prepare statutory accounts, manage consolidations, lead audits, and ensure adherence to IFRS standards.
• Handle tax affairs including corporate tax, VAT compliance, transfer pricing, and initiatives aimed at tax optimization.
• Supervise treasury functions such as cash flow oversight, liquidity plans, bank relations, and manage foreign exchange risks.
• Assist in capital budgeting decisions, oversee capital expenditure governance, and enforce project financial controls.
• Maintain strong partnerships with auditors, lenders, joint venture stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Lead and nurture the finance team while championing process improvements and implementing automation measures.
• Offer strategic financial counsel to the CFO and Board on critical business initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

• Earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or allied discipline.
• Hold professional credentials such as CA, ACCA, or CMA.
• Accumulate 13 to 15 years of advancing experience in finance roles.
• Possess at least 5 years of senior leadership within finance, including positions like Finance Controller, Head of Finance, or Deputy CFO.
• Have direct experience in the Oil & Gas sector, specifically Upstream or Midstream operations — this is a mandatory criterion.
• Expertise in IFRS standards, including IFRS 6, 15, 16 and IAS 36, along with petroleum-specific accounting practices.
• Background in financial reporting, treasury management, taxation, internal audit controls, and audit coordination.
• Familiarity with production sharing agreements, joint operating agreements, concession agreements, and petroleum fiscal frameworks.
• Experience in commodity hedging, management of foreign exchange risk, and reserves-based financing.
• Strong leadership skills, overseeing diverse finance teams.

Desirable Credentials

• Advanced degrees or certifications such as MBA, CFA, or Master's in Finance, Energy Economics, or Petroleum Engineering.
• Previous professional exposure within the GCC or MENA region.
• Working knowledge or experience with the Qatar Energy sector is advantageous.
