About Effingham Fire Department
The Effingham Fire Department serves the community of Effingham, Illinois, a city with a population of approximately 12,500 residents. It is classified as an ISO Class 2 department, utilizing modern fire apparatus and equipment, including a new live-fire training facility. Personnel handle a variety of responsibilities such as fire suppression, rescue operations, emergency medical responses, fire investigations, hazardous materials handling, and other specialized assignments.
Job Details
The City of Effingham is establishing a two-year eligibility list starting in late 2026 for future full-time firefighter openings. Multiple hires are anticipated as vacancies arise during this period.
