Overview
We are seeking an Information Technology Supervisor to support the Regional Information Manager in IT operations at our trading branch and production plant located at Plot No. 63, Bamunarika Block 269, Namasanga & Namunkekera, Kapeeka, Nakaseke District, Uganda. This role involves both routine IT management as well as supporting project implementations, sometimes requiring travel to neighboring regions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Train and manage foreign personnel, providing hardware and network knowledge as well as other technical skills.
- Supervise subordinate IT staff, develop work plans, produce reports and summaries to ensure all assigned tasks are completed.
- Oversee branch network security, including network setup, deployment, coordination with network operators, and monitoring network traffic usage and timely payments.
- Manage branch hardware such as routers, switches, monitoring equipment, PCs, laptops, ensuring they function correctly and maintain backup resources.
- Collaborate with the company’s construction team to install and manage CCTV and data monitoring systems, organizing task assignments among personnel.
- Manage computer room operations by scheduling regular inspections to maintain cleanliness, ventilation, and proper heat dissipation.
- Provide desktop maintenance and troubleshoot issues, assist in temporary support tasks as required.
- Support superiors in completing planned key tasks and assist in solution development by identifying user pain points.
- Coordinate with headquarters for procurement processes, including material coding applications and procurement of supplies.
- Manage sourcing and delivery of printer consumables and spare parts both locally and imported.
- Offer basic IT support such as desktop maintenance and network infrastructure assistance including structured cabling.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in printer maintenance, IT support, or similar technical roles.
- Proficiency with printer hardware, consumables management, and fundamental troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience handling inventory or spare parts management is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and network cabling.
- Strong communication and coordination capabilities.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with expertise in computer maintenance.
- Proficient in Windows and Linux system maintenance.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture and Linux command line operations.
- Familiarity with IT planning and DOS commands.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and motivated to maintain equipment optimally.
