Role Overview

As an Inventory Planner at Grove Collaborative, you will play a vital role in ensuring products are available at the right time, location, and quantity. This position focuses on leveraging AI-powered planning tools to manage replenishment across a large-SKU direct-to-consumer assortment. You will work in a fast-paced eCommerce environment managing inventory across two fulfillment centers, leading automated planning methods, and applying informed judgment to optimize outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales forecasts and manage inventory purchasing to optimize sales, turnover rates, and stock availability for a diverse SKU mix using AI-driven demand forecasting platforms.
  • Maintain and configure supplier parameters and replenishment settings in planning and ERP systems, addressing forecast anomalies to improve accuracy.
  • Monitor key inventory performance indicators, develop reports using platforms like Looker and Excel, and provide actionable recommendations beyond historical data interpretation.
  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Marketing, suppliers, Billing, and Accounting teams to address inventory strategies, order follow-ups, and resolve invoice or receipt discrepancies.
  • Oversee order lifecycle from purchase order submission through EDI confirmation and receipt, and propose inventory transfers between warehouse locations based on demand and fulfillment data.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of planning systems, data quality, and processes by identifying and piloting AI capabilities such as anomaly detection, automated reorder triggers, and scenario modeling.

Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in inventory planning and procurement within a direct-to-consumer or digital eCommerce environment managing high-SKU, fast-moving assortments.
  • Practical expertise with demand forecasting platforms such as Relex, Toolio, Anaplan or similar, combined with a strong interest in adopting emerging planning technologies.
  • Applied knowledge of AI techniques specific to inventory workflows including demand sensing, automated replenishment, anomaly detection, or scenario modeling, with a proactive approach to evolving tools.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and experience with BI tools like Looker preferred.
  • Proven success managing core inventory metrics such as in-stock rates, inventory turn, weeks of supply, forecast accuracy, and minimizing aged stock.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex data into clear actionable plans for cross-functional teams including Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude toward seeking best tools and opportunities for continuous improvement as a core responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing inventory across multiple warehouse or fulfillment centers.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and EDI workflows in product-based environments.
  • Exposure to AI-powered scenario planning and automated exception handling on a large scale.
  • Alignment with sustainability values and understanding of customer motivations related to environmentally conscious products.

Benefits and Compensation

  • This is a remote, full-time exempt role available to candidates residing in specified US states including California, Maine, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Washington, Illinois, New York, Missouri, and Massachusetts.
  • Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance benefits.
  • Equity participation supporting shared success mission.
  • Flexible paid time off policy focused on results.
  • Free VIP membership and 50% employee discount on products.
  • Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a company committed to positive environmental impact and sustainability initiatives.

Compensation Details

The position offers a salary range between $75,000 and $90,000 adjusted for market cost of living considerations, where top range is reserved for the most experienced candidates in higher cost areas. Additionally, the role is eligible for an annual incentive and equity participation.
