Position Summary
Prepare breakfast and lunch items, assist with serving lines, and occasionally participate in catering events. Perform various kitchen duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up serving lines daily, ensuring all food is maintained at proper temperatures and milk coolers are stocked and ready.
- Prepare foods according to menu plans and company recipes, including advance preparation for following days.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, kitchen, cafeteria, equipment, and dishes.
- Organize inventory stock using FIFO practices and keep cooler and storage areas clean.
- Manage dishwashing area including chemical monitoring, cleaning, and storing dishes appropriately.
- Request required food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
- Prepare baked goods like bread, cakes, and cookies as specified in the menu; ensure attractive presentation.
- Perform batch cooking to sustain quality and appealing food presentation.
- Maintain serving/bar lines, restocking and cleaning as needed; serve food with proper portions and utensils ensuring quality and hospitality.
- Ensure serving lines and condiment stations are well supplied with all necessary items for customers.
Compliance and Safety
- Prepare meals strictly following menu plans and recipes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Follow standardized recipes and comply with meal patterns as per HHFKA and CACFP regulations for reimbursable meals.
- Maintain precise daily production records categorized by grade groups.
- Adhere to HACCP food safety procedures, including logging food temperatures regularly.
- Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and engage in safety incentive programs.
- Participate in daily briefings and mandatory training sessions, completing required yearly hours.

- Comply with the company's timekeeping policies accurately.
Administrative Duties
- Handle cash or operate the POS system during service, ensuring only reimbursable meals are processed.
- Complete necessary paperwork including tray counts and meal reconciliations daily.
- Submit work hours through company systems and report any absences timely to supervisors.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Position involves frequent physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and occasionally exerting more than 60 pounds.
- Requires good vision abilities including focused attention, depth perception, and color vision.
- Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, often near machinery and under conditions of heat, humidity, cold, noise, and exposure to chemicals.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred or up to one month of relevant experience or equivalent combination of training and education.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions and solve straightforward problems.
Equipment Used
Dishwasher, steamer/kettle, mixer, oven, stove, fryer, slicer, thermometers, gauges, knives, box cutters, meal counting software, personal computers, calculator, telephone, fax, scanner, copier, and printer.
