About the Role

This position sits within a major technology transformation programme. The Master Scheduler will own the creation, upkeep, and governance of an integrated programme schedule in Microsoft Project, ensuring leaders can clearly see milestones, dependencies, critical paths, risks, and any schedule slippage across several workstreams. The role is central to planning, reporting, and supporting successful delivery outcomes.

Role Details

• Role type: 12-month secondment / fixed-term
• Location: Wellington
• Working hours: Standard full-time hours, 37.5 per week

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain an integrated master schedule in Microsoft Project across multiple initiatives and external vendors.
• Set up and manage the programme work breakdown structure, milestone plan, dependencies, and critical path.
• Track delivery progress, spot timing variances, and provide analysis plus recommendations on the impact to the programme.
• Connect Jira-based agile tracking with the wider programme schedule.
• Create schedule reports, dashboards, and management insights for senior stakeholders and governance groups.
• Work closely with Programme Managers, Initiative Leads, and vendors to keep schedule data accurate and current.
• Assist with scenario planning and risk identification to strengthen delivery results.
• Define scheduling standards, templates, and good-practice methods to improve predictability and quality.
• Coach delivery teams on Microsoft Project usage and scheduling processes.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated background in programme scheduling on large transformation initiatives.
• Advanced capability in Microsoft Project, including master schedules and linked subprojects.
• Strong understanding of critical path analysis, dependency handling, and schedule reporting.
• Experience bringing agile delivery information, such as Jira data, into an integrated programme plan.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
• Exposure to banking or financial services transformation work.
• Familiarity with vendor-led software implementation projects.
• Knowledge of PMO governance, reporting structures, and programme controls.
