Role overview

This position is for an early-career mechanical engineer who will use solid theoretical knowledge to investigate problems, analyze options, and develop practical solutions. Work is reviewed or confirmed with support from a more senior team member.

Job title

The position is hired as Mechanical Design Engineer.

What you will do

• Work with the team to build detailed solutions as part of concept development.
• Prepare CAD models for product families, including individual parts and assemblies.
• Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies.
• Produce CAD-based support material such as exploded views, dimensioned drawings, and P&ID documents where needed.
• Generate CAD images for use in manuals and documentation.
• Coordinate with and provide updates to Sulzer legal entities.

Experience and technical expectations

The role calls for at least 3 years of work experience. Candidates should be familiar with sheet metal design, manufacturing methods and their constraints, laser cutting and nesting concepts, and welding of sheet metal components. Understanding of mechanisms such as bearings and lubrication is also needed.

Knowledge of sheet metal modules in CAD, especially Inventor, and Vault is required. Experience with Fusion Team will be an added advantage. A basic understanding of systematic risk management methods such as FMEA is expected, along with the ability to perform simple strength calculations and work confidently with GD&T.

Education and language requirements

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. English language proficiency is needed for the role.
