About the Role

As a Millwright at Canfor's Sawmill in Camden, SC, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and ensuring the effective operation of industrial production machines. This permanent, full-time position covers the weekend shift and offers a 12% shift differential. Your expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical issues will help maintain the reliability and safety of our modern sawmill machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate as part of a skilled team to maintain all types of mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers, chains, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems involved in the production process.
• Conduct preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance by inspecting equipment to identify irregularities and swiftly addressing malfunctions.
• Apply your mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues, enhance equipment reliability, and implement safe and effective repairs to maximize uptime.
• Maintain attention to detail to identify required parts and facilitate timely repairs.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment through responsible practices.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong troubleshooting capabilities with mechanical systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work efficiently with team members and other departments.
• Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial settings is preferred; knowledge of lumber manufacturing is an added advantage.
• Basic electrical understanding to support repairs of machinery components.
• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in heavy manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency in utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for scheduling and documenting maintenance tasks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in teams, including coordination with operations, production staff, and supervisors.
• A strong sense of urgency and accountability in completing tasks.
