Company Overview
YP SG PTE LTD serves as the newly established trading and marketing division of Young Poong Corporation (YPC), a company listed on the Korea Exchange (KOSPI). YPC operates a diverse portfolio, including one of the world’s largest Zinc smelters since the 1970s, with the YP brand registered on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
Role Summary
This role is a full-time, onsite position based in Singapore for trading operations. The individual will be responsible for supporting daily trading activities spanning multiple metal products, handling trade document processing accurately, and collaborating closely with traders, counterparties, external vendors such as warehouses and forwarders, and various internal teams to resolve trade-related issues. This role is fundamental to ensuring smooth operations and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, allocate, and manage cargo operations with suppliers to ensure timely execution.
- Maintain communication with suppliers and customers from diverse regions regarding potential shipment delays to prevent operational downtime.
- Provide regular updates and alerts to management about ongoing matters and potential risks.
- Maintain and update a daily Position Summary for trades within the portfolio, including entering new trades, updating pricing, and relevant costs.
- Accurately reconcile and report monthly profit and loss statements for headquarters and management.
- Coordinate inventory management through external liaison to validate stock levels.
- Demonstrate familiarity with international commercial terms (Incoterms), Letters of Credit (L/C), and warehouse release procedures.
- Manage comprehensive supply chain documentation, including customs and financial collateral like Letters of Credit, carefully reviewing documents before submission to Trade Finance.
- Handle customer invoicing and prepare internal payment requests to process supplier payments.
- Monitor pricing, communicate declarations to customers, and provide timely updates to traders and relevant departments.
- Follow internal standard operating procedures and participate in refining operational practices.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in commodities trade operations, with a preference for metals.
- Diploma holder minimum.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, escalate issues as needed, and develop practical solutions.
- Meticulous, hardworking, self-driven, and capable of working independently.
- Quick learner with a clear mindset, effective team player, and strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to meet deadlines and achieve designated objectives.
