Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Packaging Technologist to join our team based in Papakura, Auckland. Reporting directly to the Senior Packaging Manager, you will be integral in advancing New Product Development (NPD) and Value Optimisation (VO) projects within our beverage portfolio. This 24-month fixed-term position plays a critical role in collaborating with multiple teams to implement innovative packaging solutions that improve performance and support sustainability across manufacturing operations.
Primary Duties
- Lead and assist in managing packaging new product developments and value optimization initiatives.
- Organize, manage, and carry out packaging trials from pilot stages to full commercial production.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Procurement, Commercial teams, suppliers, and site stakeholders to deliver effective packaging solutions.
- Support initiatives focused on packaging material updates, sustainability, and pack optimization.
- Diagnose and solve issues related to packaging materials, processes, and production line capabilities.
- Evaluate trial outcomes and offer informed technical recommendations.
- Monitor project results, propose enhancements, and contribute to cost reduction efforts.
- Maintain strict attention to safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement practices.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a tertiary qualification in Science, Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a related field.
- Possesses experience in FMCG or manufacturing industries, preferably within packaging development or production operations.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
- Exhibits strong skills in project management and stakeholder communication.
- Effective analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication capacity.
- Capable of independently managing tasks and collaborating across diverse functional teams.
- Proactive with a strong passion for continuous operational improvement.
