Role Overview
The Payroll Analyst is tasked with ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll across various cycles, including biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly schedules, along with commissions. This position plays a crucial role in payroll operations, tax compliance, audit support, reporting, and system enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple payroll cycles efficiently, overseeing correct calculations of earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and adjustments.
- Calculate, verify, and process commission payments in collaboration with Sales and Finance teams to ensure accuracy and prompt payouts.
- Support payroll system operations by maintaining configurations, resolving issues, supporting upgrades, and partnering with HRIS for workflow improvements.
- Prepare and reconcile reports related to workers’ compensation wages and premiums, assist with annual audits, and ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Assist with 401(k) plan audits by reconciling contributions, verifying eligibility and matches, and coordinating with Finance and external auditors.
- Ensure all payroll activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, maintaining precise payroll records and assisting with regulatory filings.
- Develop and maintain payroll reports, dashboards, and reconciliations to analyze trends and recommend process enhancements.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, and Operations teams to resolve payroll queries and support organizational initiatives.
- Provide employees with prompt and accurate responses to payroll-related inquiries concerning pay, deductions, timekeeping, and tax documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality to protect employee information and payroll processes.
- Perform additional related HR duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of payroll experience in medium to large organizations.
- Experience managing multiple payroll cycles, including commissions processing.
- Proficiency in payroll tax reconciliations, multi-state tax requirements, and quarterly/annual filings.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation reporting and annual audits.
- Knowledge in supporting 401(k) audits, contribution reconciliations, and compliance verification.
- Strong understanding of wage and hour legislation, payroll tax principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and reconciliation techniques.
- High accuracy, confidentiality, and analytic problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with Canadian payroll and Dayforce system is preferred.
- Residency within driving distance of Blaine, MN or Boise, ID is ideal.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $82,000 annually.
Work Environment and Travel
This role operates in a standard office setting with a hybrid work arrangement requiring three days in the office weekly. Up to 10% overnight travel annually is expected for team meetings and training.
