Principal Engineer - Water

As a Principal Engineer specializing in Water, you will combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to manage complex projects, mentor teams, and advise clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead investigations, analysis, design, and reporting for water and civil infrastructure assignments.
• Provide technical guidance, peer reviews, and sound engineering judgment to project teams.
• Oversee contract management and construction supervision under NZS 3910 and NZS 3916 standards.
• Manage technical, commercial, and risk aspects to ensure successful project delivery.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and implementation strategies to secure commercial viability.
• Foster strong partnerships with clients, contractors, local councils, and other stakeholders.
• Drive bids, proposals, and strategic business development initiatives.
• Coach and mentor colleagues, enhancing team capabilities across the region.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Over 15 years of professional experience in civil and/or water infrastructure, with thorough knowledge of New Zealand engineering standards, codes, and legislation.
• Current Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) registration or actively pursuing it.
• Proven commercial acumen, adept at managing budgets, contract administration, and risk.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing diverse stakeholders.
• Collaborative leadership approach with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
• Holds a valid, clean full driver’s license.
