Role Overview

Raising The Village is hiring a Project Assistant to support implementation activities in Isingiro District, Western Region, Uganda. This position sits within the Implementation department/group and reports to the Project Officer. The role is focused on field delivery, community engagement, reporting, and coordination that help advance the organization’s goal of reducing ultra-poverty through practical, data-informed interventions.

Key Duties

The Project Assistant will help execute project plans, support community training and follow-up, maintain reporting and administrative records, and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The position requires active field presence, regular travel, and collaboration with villages, households, and internal teams.

Project Implementation

  • Participate in project design review discussions with partner villages and share input to help refine project plans and budgets before rollout.
  • Support and co-lead training sessions on topics such as financial literacy, mindset and behavior change, water, sanitation and hygiene, village savings and loans associations, agriculture, livestock care, and health outreach.
  • Carry out RTV project approaches to help raise household income and reduce extreme poverty in line with approved project designs.
  • Prepare and submit lists of goods and services needed for implementation to the procurement and logistics team.
  • Check and confirm project inputs and goods before they are distributed.
  • Follow up with community groups and households, offering guidance to support compliance and continued participation.
  • Spot implementation risks or challenges and recommend practical mitigation measures and improvements.
  • Hold regular discussions with village leadership and community members to review project performance, participation, and community perceptions.

Reporting, Administration, and Coordination

  • Create and manage work plans for assigned activities.
  • Submit weekly field reports and assist with information gathering for donor reports and proposal development when needed.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and cluster meetings to discuss progress, challenges, lessons learned, and next actions.
  • Complete weekly financial requests, submissions, and accountability documentation for the Project Manager.
  • Capture photographs and share them for the organization’s data repository.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Share feedback and recommendations with the Project Officer, Project Manager, and program team to strengthen RTV’s operating approach.
  • Recommend activities that should be revised, repeated, or newly introduced to improve sustainability and community outcomes.

Experience and Qualifications

This role requires a university degree in Community Development, Project Management, Project Planning, Development, Development Studies, Social Work, Social Administration, or a related field. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in community development programs, project management, facilitation, leadership, or a similar area.

Skills and Work Conditions

Applicants should bring strong facilitation and training ability, clear written and spoken English communication, fluency in local languages used in RTV’s working areas, and confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel.
