Role overview
The Office of Industrial Relations is looking for an experienced legal practitioner to join the Workers' Compensation Investigations and Prosecution Services team as a Prosecutor in Brisbane. This position focuses on prosecution work that supports the integrity of Queensland's workers' compensation framework and contributes to safer, fairer and healthier workplaces.

Team focus
Workers' Compensation Investigations and Prosecution Services investigates and prosecutes offences under the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003. The work can involve fraud, false or misleading statements, claim farming, not holding the required workers' compensation insurance, and improper use of workers' compensation documents.
What the role involves
In this role, you will deliver high-quality prosecution services for the Workers' Compensation Regulator. You will work alongside investigators and legal colleagues to progress matters through court and ensure prosecution decisions are well supported.
- Review briefs of evidence and give legal advice.
- Prepare matters for sentencing, hearings and trial.
- Appear in court as prosecutor and instruct external counsel on more complex files.
- Work with courts, investigators, defence lawyers, witnesses and other stakeholders.
- Provide prompt advice on prosecution outcomes.
- Help improve team processes and share knowledge with colleagues.
What you need to bring
The ideal candidate will be admitted, or eligible for admission, as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland. You should be able to assess evidence critically, apply legislation accurately, and turn that into practical legal advice. Strong courtroom advocacy, clear communication, careful drafting, stakeholder management and collaborative teamwork are also important.
