About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Purchase Manager based in Ahmedabad to oversee the complete procurement process, primarily focusing on sourcing Raw Materials (RM) and Packaging Materials (PM). This role includes vendor management, cost control, and inventory handling to support seamless production.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities aligned with production plans for RM and PM.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with vendors.
- Negotiate prices, contracts, and terms to optimize costs.
- Ensure materials are available on time to prevent production interruptions.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, R&D, and Store teams.
- Monitor inventory, including safety stocks and reorder levels.
- Apply proper storage methods such as FIFO and FEFO along with traceability of materials.
- Handle procurement paperwork including purchase orders, goods receipt notes, and invoices.
- Assess vendor performance regarding quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Drive cost-saving measures and explore alternative sourcing options.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, and internal standards.
- Generate reports covering procurement progress, inventory status, and cost reductions.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4 to 5 years of experience in procurement, purchase, or stores management.
- Background in FMCG, Pharma, Cosmetics, or Manufacturing industries preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of raw material and packaging material procurement.
- Competence in vendor negotiation and contract management.
- Understanding of inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP software.
- Strong analytical capabilities, negotiation skills, and clear communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or Engineering is required; an MBA in Supply Chain is advantageous.
Working Conditions
Working hours are from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, with either the 1st or 3rd Saturday off.
