QA Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join a dynamic fintech partner company based in Germany. In this role, you will take a pivotal part in assuring the quality, functionality, and reliability of innovative financial technology products deployed in complex payment processing environments. This position involves hands-on manual testing along with API validation, exploratory testing, and ongoing refinement of quality assurance processes within an agile, remote-first team setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead quality assurance efforts within multifunctional product teams by upholding rigorous quality standards throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Develop and carry out robust testing methodologies including functional, user interface, API, integration, regression, and exploratory testing approaches.
• Conduct detailed validations of web applications ensuring consistent user experience across various browsers, devices, and screen dimensions.
• Test and verify API endpoints covering authentication, payload correctness, error handling, and integrations with third-party services using modern industry tools.
• Partner with developers, product managers, and designers to set and maintain clear quality benchmarks early in the product development cycle to encourage shift-left testing strategies.
• Create comprehensive, reusable test cases, precise defect documentation, and maintain thorough QA records to expedite issue resolution workflows.
• Enhance testing coverage, regression protocols, QA documentation, and overall quality assurance processes to foster continuous quality improvement.
• Support and promote a culture of quality by advancing QA tools, processes, and best practices.

Candidate Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience performing manual and semi-automated testing on web applications.
• Minimum 2 years of practical API testing experience including authentication validation, payload verification, and error management.
• Demonstrated expertise in testing payment systems or financial transaction platforms critical to business operations.
• Proficient with tools such as Postman, Swagger, Chrome DevTools, SQL, and test management software like TestRail or Xray.
• Thorough understanding of RESTful APIs, frontend-backend data interactions, session handling, data validation, and software architecture principles.
• Experience in responsive UI testing across various browsers, OS platforms, and device types.
• Solid knowledge of SDLC, STLC, and Agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.
• Strong analytical abilities with close attention to detail focusing on identifying both functional and visual defects.
• Self-motivated, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively, and skilled in clear communication within distributed teams.
