About Colas Group and Role Purpose
The Colas Group operates globally in various sectors of transport infrastructure, with Colas Ireland focusing on bitumen product distribution, emulsion manufacturing, and specialist road maintenance services across the national and local road networks in Ireland. SAIC Bituminous Products, a division within Colas Group Dublin, not only manufactures and installs bituminous materials but has also expanded into civil engineering, roofing & cladding, slipform paving, traffic management, and M&E services. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will provide essential commercial support to project teams, ensuring project margins are protected, cashflow is managed properly, and forecasting and reporting are accurate across operations. This position requires regular onsite presence and collaboration with operational and supply teams nationwide.
Main Responsibilities
- Measure work completed on projects and prepare interim valuations and payment applications.
- Continuously monitor and update project costs, tracking expenditure on labor, plant, and materials against budget.
- Review and validate subcontractor payment claims and generate purchase orders through the internal cost system.
- Support pricing activities for tenders and recurring smaller projects.
- Manage project cashflow, submit applications promptly, and maintain reliable cash forecasting.
- Compile backlog file valuations to assist in forecasting turnover and prepare work-in-progress reports for monthly accounts.
- Collaborate closely with the Contracts Team to align commercial and operational activities ensuring contractual compliance.
- Attend site visits and liaise with stakeholders to resolve commercial, technical, and contractual queries.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in quantity surveying or commercial roles within highway or infrastructure projects.
- Strong commercial acumen relating to costing and contractor management.
- Ability to measure works, price variations, prepare valuations, and support tender pricing efficiently.
- Good problem-solving abilities and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to health and safety standards, quality, and continuous process improvement.
- Self-driven, responsible, and capable of prioritizing tasks effectively.
Compensation and Benefits
The Colas Group offers an annual salary between €55,000 and €70,000 dependent on experience, plus an attractive benefits package including:
