Role Overview

The Quantity Surveyor will be instrumental in overseeing the financial aspects of school construction and refurbishment projects in Abeokuta, Ogun State. This on-site, full-time position entails preparing Bills of Quantities, cost estimations, and tender documentation, as well as evaluating contractors' proposals. Responsibilities include diligent budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and generating periodic cost reports to ensure financial adherence across projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform site measurements and value completed works accurately.
• Assess project variations and manage associated costs.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and community representatives to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
• Conduct risk evaluations related to cost and procurement aspects.
• Support contract administration and ensure alignment with organizational financial policies and donor conditions.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proficiency in cost planning, financial forecasting, and budget creation.
• Expertise in preparing Bills of Quantities and delivering clear cost reports for stakeholders and donors.
• Strong cost control capabilities, including expenditure tracking and variation management.
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Professional accreditation or membership in recognized construction or quantity surveying bodies is advantageous.
• Experience with building or infrastructure projects, especially within educational or nonprofit sectors in Africa.
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Competence with estimating and project management software.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration on-site.
