About JHC Consulting
JHC Consulting is searching for an entry-level Reporting Analyst Intern to join our team and support advisory efforts for a regional financial services client. Unlike traditional management consulting that focuses on presentations, we prioritize clear written analyses grounded in precise data and logic.
Role Overview
Your main responsibility is to assist senior consultants in drafting high-quality memoranda. This involves intensive examination of financial and operational data from a regional financial institution. Instead of merely creating visual data representations, you'll critically evaluate data to challenge and refine the client's narrative. Daily tasks include reading raw data, spotting inconsistencies, drafting, and revising concise summaries that link every claim to specific data points or assumptions. This role is entirely remote and requires the ability to concentrate independently for extended periods.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates have analytical thinking and strong writing maturity. Academic background in finance, economics, mathematics, or related rigor-focused disciplines is important. You should understand financial statements and operational reports and be proficient with Excel. More importantly, you must translate complex data insights into clear, straightforward language. Precision and discretion are essential due to the sensitive nature of our work. Independent time management and accountability in a remote setting are also required.
Company Culture & Work Process
JHC Consulting emphasizes individual responsibility; each memorandum is attributed to the analyst responsible for its research and writing. Our process reduces meetings and maximizes focused work time. Interns receive substantial responsibilities and must ensure every analysis withstands rigorous scrutiny. We avoid jargon and prefer transparent, honest communication.
Working Conditions and Benefits
Our small firm structure allows selective engagement with meaningful projects, giving interns valuable, substantive experience. This is a paid internship with compensation competitive within the market. Our fully remote model provides flexibility in structuring workdays to maintain high-quality analysis and writing. We foster a culture of intellectual rigor and mutual respect, relying primarily on clear written communication for collaboration.
Additional Notes
The role demands a high standard of written output, as each memorandum serves as formal counsel documents preserved by client executives. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop disciplined reporting skills and mastery in constructing persuasive written arguments trusted by industry leaders.
