Role Overview
Join a leading team contributing to one of the U.S. Federal Government's major technology modernization initiatives focused on revitalizing the U.S. capital markets. This project leverages an AWS-based, AI-powered engineering platform and uses cutting-edge AI, including Agentic AI and cloud technologies, providing an opportunity for meaningful technical work and national impact.
Position Details
This full-time position is based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and requires hybrid work with 1-2 remote days per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead Agile events such as Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring these sessions remain efficient, timely, and aligned with Agile principles.
- Promote and maintain Scrum practices and a consistent delivery rhythm within the team.
- Encourage collaboration and open communication among team members.
- Detect, track, and remove any barriers to sprint progress and raise unresolved issues to leadership when necessary.
- Protect the team from distractions that could hinder sprint goals.
- Work with stakeholders to resolve challenges affecting sprint delivery.
- Manage Agile boards, metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools, utilizing AI-assisted software to enhance visibility and accuracy of delivery metrics.
- Coordinate with other Scrum Masters to manage cross-team dependencies and support synchronized sprint execution.
- Assist Product Owners in backlog refinement, prioritization, and ensuring stories are sprint-ready.
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and encourage a culture of accountability, learning, and process enhancement.
- Support release planning and readiness, track dependencies, and communicate status to leadership.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Scrum Master supporting Agile software teams.
- Hands-on experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and using Scrum methodologies.
- Strong collaboration history with Product Owners, Software Engineers, QA, and Technical Leads.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification.
- Proficiency in Agile tools such as Jira or equivalents.
- Ability to manage Agile metrics, delivery tracking, and issue escalation.
- Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, organizational, and communication skills.
- U.S. legal work authorization with the ability to secure and maintain Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Additional Agile certifications such as SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM), or PMI-ACP.
- Experience with federal government agencies or government contract projects.
- Background in software modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with AI-enhanced Agile delivery tools and platforms like Azure DevOps, Rally, or VersionOne.
- Experience managing distributed Agile teams.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or comparable experience.
Compensation
The expected annual salary range is $90,000 to $130,000 depending on experience.
