Role overview
The Senior Systems Engineer will help keep Serko’s systems and networks running effectively by installing, supporting, and tailoring system software and firmware, while also delivering efficient escalated ICT support to users across the business.
Core responsibilities
- Improve how users interact with the operating system and application software.
- Deliver projects on schedule and within approved budgets.
- Build customer feedback surveys and use the responses to identify improvement opportunities.
- Keep hardware, software, and network infrastructure working reliably.
- Manage software licensing, including tools such as Slack and Google Workspace.
- Ensure licensing is applied correctly for all users.
- Monitor core infrastructure and take preventive action before issues escalate.
- Streamline employee onboarding and offboarding through automation where possible.
- Provide Level 3 support for hardware, firmware, and software issues.
- Step in with second-level support during peak periods so incidents are prioritised and resolved promptly.
- Support colleagues across different geographies when needed.
- Communicate realistic resolution timelines and keep users updated on progress.
Experience and skills required
- Background in systems administration and/or systems engineering.
- Hands-on ICT support experience with solid networking exposure.
- Experience leading projects and driving continuous improvement work.
- Strong experience managing Google Workspace and associated licences.
- Good technical understanding of desktop hardware, firmware, and common software.
- Strong analytical thinking, structured troubleshooting, and problem-solving ability.
- Clear understanding of security risks and related processes.
- Strong customer service orientation with a proactive, positive approach.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
