Job Overview
This role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate is self-driven, capable of collaborating effectively within teams and across departments, and committed to delivering software that meets the bank's standards and ensures an excellent customer experience. Familiarity with agile development and DevOps processes is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, operate, and maintain software products efficiently.
- Take full ownership of full stack development by producing reliable, production-ready, and testable code consistently.
- Develop optimal designs aligned with architectural best practices, considering factors such as scalability, reliability, and system performance.
- Analyze failures to recommend design improvements and promote operational enhancements.
- Make coding and design decisions prioritizing customer experience.
- Incorporate feedback from code reviews to improve software quality and comply with standards.
- Perform code reviews to guide best engineering practices and adhere to developmental procedures.
- Ensure all development activities comply with security policies and standards.
- Maintain high standards for software reliability embedded into development workflows.
- Adopt and promote emerging technologies to support the bank’s technology transformation initiatives.
- Contribute actively to fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement culture.
- Critically assess and prioritize tasks for incremental delivery, proactively communicating any delays or obstacles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Two to three years of relevant software development experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js development.
- Strong knowledge of MongoDB and modeling for NoSQL databases.
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as Ember or React.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or CloudBees and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Competence in SQL and relational database design.
- Understanding of agile lifecycle and DevOps methodologies.
- Capability to produce and maintain API technical documentation, for instance using Swagger.
- Ability to mentor and support engineers across different skill levels.
Work Location
This position requires being present onsite at a U.S. Bank office in Toronto for three or more days each week.
