Position Summary
This role involves rotating shifts with occasional overtime on weekends and holidays. The primary responsibility is to maintain cleanliness in the Boiling House operations area, working safely and independently with minimal supervision, while also assisting Boiling House staff as needed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and comply with safety, health, operational regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Complete all required training sessions, safety classes, pre-shift meetings, and certifications pertinent to the position.
- Utilize equipment including power washers, mops, shovels, rakes, pitchforks, brooms, wheelbarrows, and other hand and power tools to clean, move, and manage refuse, liquids, and other materials.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and man-lifts safely, managing foot and hand controls simultaneously.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must pass company assessments evaluating basic, job-related, and mechanical aptitudes as well as other relevant characteristics.
- Must be at least 18 years old with a reliable work and disciplinary history.
- Demonstrate physical capability to perform all job functions, including handling physical labor and environmental conditions.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to understand instructions, communicate effectively, and ensure safety.
- Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background checks is required, along with all mandatory training and orientation.
- Forklift certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Working Conditions
About 80% of work occurs outdoors, exposed to elements like heat, variable weather, dust, loud noise, and limited visibility while wearing protective gear including hard hats, goggles, ear plugs, full-body suits, and respirators. Tasks require physical activities such as climbing, kneeling, crawling, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and traversing uneven terrain with trip hazards, often lifting up to 55 pounds independently.
The remaining 20% involves working in confined or enclosed spaces with lock-out/tag-out procedures, artificial lighting, and around sharp machinery parts, often requiring respirator use.
