Role Overview

The Assistant Manager in the Compliance - Fraud Monitoring Unit will lead investigations into sales misconduct, fraud, customer complaints, sourcing irregularities, and whistleblower matters across the insurance value chain. The role requires thorough fact-finding, review of policy and transaction data, identification of fraud indicators, and evaluation of control gaps to reduce organizational risk.

This position works closely with teams across Sales, Claims, HR, Legal, Risk, and Operations to close cases in a timely manner and implement corrective actions. It also involves creating detailed investigation reports, management dashboards, and practical recommendations to improve governance, controls, and ethical conduct across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations covering sales misconduct, customer grievances, early claims, sourcing malpractice, fraud, misselling, forged documents, nondisclosure, and whistleblower complaints, including internal fraud cases.
  • Manage investigations involving employees and agents at the pre-issuance, post-issuance, and claims stages.
  • Interview employees, agents, and other relevant stakeholders in a professional, impartial, and well-documented manner.
  • Review policy-level information, submission trends, persistency patterns, cancellation ratios, and claim connections to establish accountability or possible collusion.
  • Support matters where there is suspicion of fraud involving employees, agents, vendors, or outside parties working together.
  • Use Excel, dashboards, and analytical tools to spot trends, exceptions, and warning signs in data.
  • Identify process weaknesses and control deficiencies that may enable misconduct or fraud.
  • Work with stakeholders to perform root-cause analysis and agree on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with Claims, Underwriting, Sales, HR, Legal, Risk, and Operations for inputs and final case closure.
  • Track cases through closure, including disciplinary actions, process improvements, or policy updates.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, regulatory checks, and management reporting tied to fraud and market conduct matters.
  • Draft clear investigation reports with evidence, observations, findings, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation in line with internal governance requirements and regulatory expectations.
  • Monitor case counts, ageing, and outcomes for regular MIS and dashboard reporting.
  • Contribute to special projects such as process reviews, regulatory readiness, control testing, and thematic conduct-risk assessments.
  • Turn investigation findings and analytical output into actionable recommendations, including process changes, stronger controls, and targeted interventions.
  • Work with Zonal and Regional Sales Leadership to strengthen ethical selling, customer fairness, and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Promote a culture of ethical behavior and shared accountability across business and compliance teams.
