Chief Operating Officer

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding international renewable energy developer specializing in utility-scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting directly to the CEO and serving at the board level, the COO will lead the operational management globally, ensuring project delivery excellence, enhancing business processes, and driving scalable growth across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overarching strategic leadership to align operations with long-term corporate objectives.
• Manage the delivery and execution of a global portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.
• Oversee cross-functional teams including project delivery, construction, engineering, procurement, and operations for optimal performance.
• Create and enforce standardized operational procedures, governance frameworks, and best practices internationally.
• Promote continuous improvement, operational standardization, and performance optimization initiatives.
• Develop, guide, and inspire high-performing multidisciplinary teams across diverse locations.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO and executive leadership to craft and implement the company’s global expansion strategies.
• Define key operational KPIs, track business performance, and report to the Board and investors.
• Manage organizational risk, uphold compliance, governance policies, and health & safety standards.
• Partner with Development, Commercial, Finance, Legal, and Investment teams to ensure seamless project lifecycle management from inception to operation.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with investors, contractors, EPC partners, suppliers, regulators, and strategic allies.
• Support M&A activities, international market expansion, and integration of new operations when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field; MBA is a plus.
• Proven executive leadership experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, or major capital projects.
• Successful track record of managing complex operational organizations through rapid growth phases.
• In-depth exposure to leading large-scale solar, BESS, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial insight with the ability to balance strategic goals with operational excellence.
• Experience managing international teams across multiple geographies.
• Demonstrated success in deploying operational processes, governance models, and transformational business initiatives.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
• Experience engaging with executive boards, investors, and senior-level stakeholders.
