CMM Inspection Engineer

Role Overview

The CMM Inspection Engineer will carry out dimensional measurements of components and assemblies utilizing the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) along with other precision metrology tools, strictly adhering to Dana India blueprints, specifications, and quality criteria. The engineer will execute inspections, compile reports, manage documentation, and ensure timely delivery of results with full traceability.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Execute dimensional inspections of parts and assemblies based on Dana India drawings, technical specifications, and quality requirements, ensuring adherence to set deadlines.
• Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) leveraging Hexagon PC-DMIS software for inspection tasks.
• Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, including GD&T symbols, ballooned drawings, inspection plans, and client specifications.
• Use a variety of precision measurement tools such as CMM, contour measuring machines, profile projectors, height gauges, vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, thread, plug, and ring gauges for thorough evaluations.
• Assess and verify dimensional accuracy, identifying discrepancies from prescribed standards.
• Prepare comprehensive inspection documentation for each batch or lot inspected, detailing measurement outcomes, deviations, visual findings, and any supporting information.
• Ensure that all inspection documentation complies with Dana India’s standards and reporting formats.
• Liaise with the Third-Party Supervisor to review and authenticate inspection records.
• Submit finalized inspection reports to the appointed Dana India Quality Representative within the stipulated timeframe.
• Maintain detailed traceability and archival of all inspection activities and related paperwork.
• Confirm that measuring instruments are calibrated correctly and used in line with relevant procedures.
• Adhere strictly to safety, quality assurance, and confidentiality protocols throughout inspection duties.
• Assist in the root cause analysis and investigation of any detected dimensional non-conformities.
