Position Overview
The Database Administrator will oversee the planning, deployment, monitoring, and support of production and pre-production database environments. This includes collaborating with application teams to ensure database designs are practical and maintainable, supporting development, quality assurance, and performance testing phases. The role demands availability for a 24/7 on-call rotation for production systems, a deep understanding of client functions, and expertise in modern data platforms. Responsibilities include evolving legacy systems and delivering secure, observable, and cost-efficient data services for analytics and applications.
Work Location
This role requires presence in the Columbus, OH office four days weekly, with one day of remote work allowed on Fridays. Fully remote arrangements are not permitted.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain databases, schemas, roles, and data warehouses.
- Optimize compute resources balancing performance and cost.
- Track storage use, enhance query performance, and ensure overall system health.
- Automate administrative activities using SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Establish role-based access controls and enforce security policies.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to deploy data pipelines using tools like DBT, ADF, and SSIS.
- Manage data ingestion from cloud services, APIs, and databases.
- Design and implement efficient data loading, transformation, and partitioning strategies.
- Analyze query plans and enhance workload efficiency.
- Adjust warehouse sizing and scaling to optimize costs and performance.
- Administer data security measures including encryption and masking within Snowflake.
- Implement disaster recovery, backup, and data retention procedures.
- Work closely with data engineers and analysts to support various data initiatives.
- Diagnose and resolve database, schema, and access issues.
- Provide guidance on Snowflake best practices and manage Snowflake platform updates.
- Keep up with emerging cloud technologies and data platform enhancements.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years' experience in Database Administration or Data Engineering roles.
- At least two years of hands-on experience managing Snowflake Cloud Data Platform environments.
- Advanced skills in SQL, performance tuning, and data modeling.
- Experience with cloud service providers such as Azure or AWS.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools including DBT and Azure Data Factory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications like SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced.
- Knowledge of Snowflake Cortex technology.
- Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle.
- Understanding of CI/CD practices for data pipelines using tools like Terraform.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
- Exposure to Business Intelligence platforms, including Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.

Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $87,000 to $120,000 annually. Eligible candidates may also receive annual bonuses and equity compensation based on performance and other considerations.
