Position Overview

The Design Associate/Coordinator plays a pivotal role within the Design department, reporting directly to the Director of Design. The objective is to enhance and uphold the distinct style and personality of the properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Department Heads and the Design team to ensure all spaces meet established standards and that public areas are consistently maintained in pristine 'show-ready' condition.
  • Work alongside Housekeeping, Engineering, Events, and Food & Beverage departments to uphold uniform interior design standards across rooms, displays, floor plans, signage, and event setups.
  • Adapt effectively within a fast-paced environment to meet evolving project requirements and expectations.
  • Proactively identify potential challenges and resolve problems before they escalate.
  • Manage fixture, furniture, and equipment (FF&E) inventory, including receiving, requisitioning, scheduling, and installation, with specialized knowledge in vintage furniture.
  • Source vintage furniture and unique objects, along with general FF&E, tabletop items, and operating supplies and equipment (OS&E).
  • Execute design projects by sourcing materials, conducting price comparisons, selecting vendors, and maintaining budgets.
  • Interpret construction documents and floor plans accurately, understanding scale and spatial relationships of structures and furnishings.
  • Develop instructional manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and visual presentations for space maintenance.
  • Schedule and oversee vendor projects with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Coordinate furniture placement, landscaping upkeep, and manage tools and materials needed throughout the property.
  • Organize and maintain FF&E assets, both on-site and off-site, ensuring accurate inventory and care.
  • Conduct regular reviews of public spaces and guest rooms alongside the Director of Design.
  • Source new and replacement materials for projects locally and internationally, including occasional travel to procure items.
  • Understand wood and metal finishes as well as general contracting and interior design terminology.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in hospitality design.
  • 2 to 4 years of prior interior design experience.
  • A degree in design or a related art field is mandatory.
