Role Summary

Tata Technologies is seeking a seasoned Diagnostics Engineer for automotive programs in Pune or Bengaluru. The role focuses on vehicle diagnostics across electronic and electrical systems, with hands-on work in UDS implementation, diagnostic validation, and issue resolution across several vehicle domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and verify diagnostic features aligned with UDS (ISO 14229) requirements.
  • Define, maintain, and analyze diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), data identifiers (DIDs), and diagnostic session behavior.
  • Investigate failures using logs, traces, and other diagnostic evidence to identify the root cause.
  • Support validation activities across HIL, SIL, and actual vehicle testing environments.
  • Debug problems across CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet-based vehicle networks.
  • Use flashing and fault-analysis tools to support reprogramming and diagnostics work.
  • Ensure diagnostic solutions meet OEM expectations and compliance standards.
  • Assist with SOP readiness and resolution of issues discovered in the field.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and keep diagnostic records, reports, and supporting documentation up to date.

Required Expertise

  • Deep understanding of UDS (ISO 14229) and OBD II diagnostics.
  • Practical experience with diagnostic protocols and vehicle electrical/electronic architectures.
  • Hands-on exposure to CANoe, CANalyzer, OEM diagnostic tools, and related test equipment.
  • Knowledge of DTC lifecycle handling, flashing/reprogramming concepts, and fault management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues in ECU and EE systems across multiple automotive domains.

Preferred Background

  • Experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Exposure to powertrain, body, chassis, ADAS, or infotainment systems.
  • Familiarity with functional safety or cybersecurity-related diagnostics.
  • Strong coordination skills for working with stakeholders across teams.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must have Japanese bilingual proficiency with JLPT N3, N2, or N1 certification. The expected experience range is 5 to 10 years, and the notice period should be immediate to 30 days.

Education

Preferred qualification: BE, B.Tech, or M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, or Mechatronics.
