About South West Water and the Role
South West Water is responsible for providing safe and reliable drinking water along with wastewater services across some of the UK's most picturesque regions. Part of the Pennon Group, a leading name in the UK water industry, the company is committed to sustainability efforts such as reducing carbon emissions, planting 300,000 trees, restoring peatlands, and collaborating with farmers to enhance water quality and biodiversity.
The Strategic Resource Options (SRO) Programme is a major infrastructure initiative, and South West Water seeks a meticulous and proactive Document Controller to join this critical project team. This role will involve ensuring that project information, documentation, and governance processes meet the highest quality standards to facilitate successful programme delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure correct uploading, classification, version control, and adherence to project documentation standards.
- Manage all project documents using Autodesk Forma (Autodesk Construction Cloud) and other document management systems.
- Coordinate document reviews, approval workflows, transmittals, and submissions to stakeholders.
- Monitor and resolve document workflow challenges proactively.
- Compile, prepare, and distribute project reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in document control and information management methods.
- Provide administrative assistance to programme leadership including managing diaries, coordinating meetings, and taking minutes.
- Maintain comprehensive records and audit trails to ensure governance, compliance, and quality assurance.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Proven track record as a Document Controller, Technical Administrator, or in a related role within construction, engineering, infrastructure, or large-scale projects.
- Strong expertise in document and information management.
- Excellent organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in IT tools such as Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-moving project environment.
- Minimum educational requirement of five GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with major capital projects in utilities, water, civil engineering, or regulated settings.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud), Aconex, ProjectWise, Viewpoint, or similar Common Data Environment platforms.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 standards for information management.
- Experience dealing with technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
- Academic background or professional certification in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Management, or related fields.
- Certification related to Document Control, Information Management, or Autodesk Forma.
