About the Role
The Department of Public Works (DPW) is currently inviting applications for a full-time Laborer role with immediate start. This position involves performing various skilled tasks such as collecting town trash, maintaining roadside cleanliness, mowing, operating equipment, and maintaining records, all under the guidance of the General Foreman.
Qualifications
Candidates must have or be able to obtain a valid Massachusetts driver's license prior to starting employment. The role requires manual dexterity and physical capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. The duties also involve outdoor physical work in various weather conditions.
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time opportunity offers a starting hourly wage of $33.50 for new hires, progressing to $41.67 for employees with 12 years of service within the Town of Nantucket. Additional benefits include retirement pension participation through Barnstable County Retirement, health insurance plans with 90% employer contribution, and a variety of supplemental insurance options. The position is unionized under AFSCME, M2 category.
