Job Overview
UNICEF Ghana is seeking applications for the position of Driver under the General Service category (Post Level GS-2, VN No.: VN-13-03). This is a fixed-term contract expected to last two years with a possibility for renewal. The selected candidate will operate official vehicles, ensuring the safe transportation of staff and goods, and oversee vehicle upkeep and security.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate office vehicles to transport authorized personnel and handle the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and various items.
- Assist officials at the airport by facilitating immigration and customs procedures.
- Manage routine maintenance of assigned vehicles by checking fluid levels, batteries, brakes, and tires; promptly report any defects to the supervisor, perform minor repairs, arrange necessary servicing, and ensure the cleanliness and security of the vehicle and its equipment.
- Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- High School diploma is required.
- Must possess a valid professional driver's license.
- Strong understanding of driving laws and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of automotive mechanics is considered an advantage.
- A minimum of five continuous years of safe professional driving experience is essential.
Language and Competencies
- Proficient in English; knowledge of a second UN language and local dialects are advantageous.

- Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively, and a focus on achieving results.
- Capable of analyzing situations, following instructions and procedures, and organizing tasks efficiently.
