Job Overview
This position is for a Game Tools & Modding Engineer focused on developing high-performance real-time applications beyond typical gameplay elements. You'll work on graphics and engine systems, utilizing APIs such as DirectX (versions 11 and 12), Vulkan, OpenGL, or comparable technologies in a fully remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement game systems and features at the engine level using C++ and various game engines.
- Develop tools and support modding functionalities associated with games.
- Design and enhance rendering pipelines, shaders, and real-time graphics systems.
- Perform optimization tasks on CPU, GPU, memory usage, and rendering workloads to improve performance.
- Expand and maintain tools, pipelines, and core engine systems to aid development processes.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including designers, artists, and engineers to achieve high-quality outputs.
- Diagnose and resolve complex problems related to rendering, system performance, and cross-platform compatibility.
- Produce clean, maintainable code with thorough documentation.
- Engage in code reviews and assist in making technical decisions.
Requirements
- Between 3 to 6 years of experience in game development or real-time graphics programming.
- Strong command of C++ programming language.
- Practical expertise with one or more graphics APIs such as DirectX (DX11/DX12), Vulkan, OpenGL, or Metal.
- Good understanding of rendering pipeline concepts.
- Knowledge of shader programming languages like HLSL or GLSL.
- Solid grasp of 3D mathematics and real-time graphics principles.
- Experience working with Unreal Engine or comparable game engines.
- Understanding of performance optimization methodologies for CPU, GPU, memory, and multithreading environments.
- Strong debugging skills and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to function effectively as part of a remote and distributed team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customizing game engines or developing low-level engine features.
- Familiarity with performance analysis and profiling tools such as RenderDoc, PIX, Nsight, among others.
- Background in cross-platform development and environments with tight performance constraints.
- Knowledge of tooling, pipeline creation, or editor extensions.
- Experience with multiplayer systems or large-scale game architectures.
