Position Overview

The General Manager oversees all aspects of membership, fitness, and operational functions at the gym, driving financial profitability while fostering an excellent environment for members and employees. This role involves recruiting, training, and leading a diverse and high-performing team aligned with UFC Gym’s values.

Core Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, and hire managers, supervisors, and team members representative of the community's diversity.
• Provide consistent coaching, training, and performance evaluations for direct and indirect reports to ensure accountability and engagement.
• Conduct ongoing team development to improve retention and performance.
• Participate in employee hiring, dismissal, and disciplinary actions alongside Vice Presidents.
• Cultivate a positive workplace with leadership support and regular feedback.
• Hold frequent team meetings to discuss performance, goals, and motivation.
• Maintain a motivated and goal-oriented team that embodies company values.
• Drive sales execution by meeting lead generation, appointment-setting, and guest objectives.
• Ensure a minimum of 50% guest conversion rate, 40% ultimate mix utilization, and 25% private coaching attachment for new memberships.
• Oversee documentation of HR processes and report to Vice Presidents as required.
• Meet monthly membership sales, EFT, and private coaching targets.
• Contribute gym-specific insights into financial, budgetary, and operational plan development.
• Develop and implement monthly plans to achieve financial, retention, and operational goals alongside department heads.
• Coordinate with operations and facilities teams to prioritize tasks enhancing member experience.
• Provide monthly financial reporting to executive leadership.
• Promote a safe, community-driven gym atmosphere fostering member satisfaction and profitability.
• Lead by example in member service and promptly address member feedback and concerns.
• Monitor gym upkeep and timely resolution of maintenance issues.
• Approve overtime and manage timekeeping records in coordination with department heads.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and safety standards for employees, members, and property.

Organizational Reporting

The General Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Sales, with various direct and indirect reports including Assistant Manager, Membership Specialists, Operations Manager, and Fitness Director under a dotted-line setup.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing teams, budgets, revenues, payroll, and strong analytical skills with an understanding of the fitness industry.
• Possess excellent organizational capabilities and customer service focus with proven track records.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Documents, and PowerPoint.
• Strong leadership, communication, time-management, and analytical proficiency.
• Minimum educational requirement is a High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 2-3 years of progressive management experience overseeing 3-10 employees.
• 3-5 years of sales experience or a related field.

Physical Demands

• Must be capable of lifting weights ranging from 50 to 120 pounds and standing for 8-12 hours.
• Must have reliable transportation for commuting and attending meetings or events.
