Job Purpose
The role involves delivering expert servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to a variety of ground care and turf machinery like ride-on mowers, cylinder mowers, compact tractors, ATVs/UTVs, chainsaws, strimmers, blowers, and other amenity equipment. Work is performed both at the Alton workshop and customer locations to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and at optimal performance, maintaining the company’s high standards of professionalism and technical skill.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and fix mechanical faults by utilizing manufacturer diagnostic tools and manuals.
- Conduct scheduled servicing, pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), winterizing equipment, and warranty repairs.
- Respond to field service requests at golf courses, estates, sports grounds, and local authority sites.
- Maintain precise digital records of job cards, timesheets, and service documentation.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and carry out required risk assessments.
- Offer professional technical guidance and foster lasting relationships with customers.
- Engage in specialized manufacturer training programs from brands such as Husqvarna, Honda, and Kawasaki.
- Assist apprentices and junior technicians as necessary.
- Ensure service vans, tools, and workspaces remain clean and well-organized.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a Ground Care Technician or similar role focused on small-engine and turf equipment mechanics.
- Possess Level 3 qualification in Land-based Engineering, Horticultural Machinery, or an equivalent credential.
- Hold a valid UK driving licence; BE trailer entitlement is beneficial.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and small-engine diagnostic capabilities.
- Able to work independently on-site and collaboratively within a busy depot environment.
- Exhibit professional communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with brands like Husqvarna, Honda, Kawasaki, or similar.
- Skills in cylinder mower grinding and reel upkeep.
- Certification in operating telehandlers or forklifts.
- Background in mobile field services.
- Competence with basic IT applications, especially dealer management systems.
