Location
This position is hybrid-based in Chicago, IL.
Role Overview
As a Junior Frontend Developer, you will assist in creating and maintaining features for both web and mobile applications. You will work closely with senior engineers and utilize AI-assisted development tools regularly to enhance productivity and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support UI components for web applications using frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue, and/or mobile apps across iOS, Android, or cross-platform environments, under senior mentorship.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and tested code adhering to established conventions for component and state management.
- Address bugs, respond to quality assurance feedback, and independently implement minor feature improvements.
- Utilize AI-driven coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) to accelerate coding, testing, and debugging processes.
- Engage in code review activities, providing and accepting constructive feedback.
- Coordinate with designers, QA teams, and backend developers to deliver complete feature sets.
- Maintain thorough documentation of UI components and contribute to the team’s knowledge resources.
- Participate actively in sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups, and estimation sessions.
Qualifications
- Up to 2 years of frontend development experience, including internships.
- Working knowledge of at least one modern frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- Familiarity with mobile development concepts for iOS, Android, or cross-platform frameworks is advantageous.
- Comfortable employing AI coding tools like Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude in daily tasks.
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and version control systems, specifically Git.
- Strong fundamentals in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Motivated to learn continuously and receptive to feedback for professional growth.
Preferred Skills
- Experience or coursework involving AI or large language model (LLM) integrations.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes and automated testing frameworks.
- Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- A portfolio or GitHub repository showcasing personal or academic projects.
Compensation
The base salary for this role is estimated to range between $43,984 and $105,600 annually, subject to factors such as location, education, certifications, experience, seniority, and market conditions. Additional benefits may include performance bonuses or commissions in compliance with applicable laws.
