Lead Developer - Team Lead

About the Role

We are a small company specializing in multi-platform content-filtering software seeking an experienced Lead Developer to head our development team. This role requires a hands-on leader who can directly contribute to coding while guiding the team. The Lead Developer will transform strategic projects from the CTO into manageable tasks, keep the team productive by removing obstacles, and actively participate in complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and organize the day-to-day activities of the development team, including planning work and assigning tasks.
• Interpret broad company projects and objectives from the CTO and translate them into clear, executable tasks for developers.
• Maintain active involvement in coding, tackling critical components alongside team members.
• Serve as the primary problem-solver to assist teammates and ensure steady progress.
• Ensure high standards of code quality while also supporting team members' professional growth.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of AI features within the software.

Preferred Skills and Technologies

• Experience with TypeScript, React, and React Native.
• Familiarity with Go programming language.
• Exposure to Swift and iOS application development.
• Knowledge of PizzaPy and AI infrastructure including model deployment.

• Comprehensive full-stack development expertise, capable of engaging with all project areas immediately.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and earning respect from a development team.
• Capability to balance team management responsibilities with active coding involvement.
• Skilled in converting high-level project directives into precise assignments.
• Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Willing and able to work on-site in our Addis Ababa office, leading the team in person.
• Motivated to grow alongside a startup environment, embracing increasing responsibilities over time.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, on-premises position located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, offering a starting salary of $3,000 USD monthly, with significant potential for advancement in both role and pay.
