Maintenance Operative

Role overview

Cygnet Healthcare is hiring a Maintenance Operative for Cygnet Maple House in East Bridgford, England, United Kingdom. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.

Cygnet Maple House is a 16-bed specialist service that supports women with personality disorder and complex needs through assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.

What you will do

• Deliver a wide-ranging repair and upkeep service across the site.
• Handle practical maintenance tasks such as basic joinery, plumbing, painting, and general building work.
• Look after equipment, building services, and vehicles to keep them in good working order.
• Follow safe working procedures and raise concerns about defective equipment or possible hazards.
• Travel to other locations when needed and, at times, be available on call for emergency repairs outside regular working hours.
• Inspect fire alarm points every week, including fire exits, door retention devices, and emergency lighting.

What the employer is looking for

• Previous experience in a similar post, or recent self-employed work in a comparable field.
• Willingness to travel and possession of a full, valid driving licence.
• Confidence communicating with people at all levels and keeping clear, detailed maintenance records.
• Strong DIY ability and general maintenance skills.
• Ideally, background experience in electrical, plumbing, or construction work.
• A friendly, conscientious approach, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well in a team.
