About the Role
SouthLink N25 oversees the operation and upkeep of the Suir Bridge & Toll Plaza situated at Gracedieu, near Waterford City. The team is committed to efficiently managing toll collection and ensuring the smooth functioning of the plaza, contributing to the safety and connectivity of Waterford’s transport infrastructure, thereby shortening journey times for local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance tasks primarily on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Administer the Maintenance Management System effectively.
- Engage in maintenance meetings and workshops to discuss upkeep strategies.
- Take ownership of comprehensive systems such as toll control equipment and building facilities.
- Provide on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation.
- Assist with the rollout of equipment and procedural upgrade projects.
- Lead projects aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, performance, and uptime.
- Manage and supervise maintenance projects within the department.
- Complete documentation related to preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Contribute to improving maintenance systems and procedures.
- Oversee Safe Work Permits and safety-related registers.
- Participate in health and safety meetings and follow up on resultant actions.
- Prepare and review internal documentation including procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
- Review and approve safety documentation submitted by external contractors.
- Manage local contracts including contractor appointments and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with engineers and suppliers to troubleshoot issues and improve toll system reliability.
- Support management in delivering on operational and maintenance agreements.
- Assist in preparing budget and expenditure reports.
- Conduct inductions and safety toolbox talks.
- Develop and oversee small-scale projects.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of secondary education (2nd level education).
- At least five years’ experience as a maintenance technician.
- NFQ Level 6 qualification such as an Advanced or Higher Certificate in electrical, mechanical, or computer systems.
- Proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and report writing, with troubleshooting experience.
- Possession of Safe Pass certification.
- Desirable certifications include up-to-date training in tolling IT systems, MEWPS, working at heights, first aid, fire warden duties, manual handling, safety representation, and ECDL or equivalent.

- Self-driven, enthusiastic, and adaptable to changing requirements.
- Reliable with a readiness to accept responsibility.
- Willingness to provide out-of-hours emergency response, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform night duties.
- Valid full driving license and access to own transport for on-call requirements.
