About the Role

The Manager of Data Engineering at Charles Schwab oversees the hands-on technical leadership and delivery of innovative, scalable data automation tools and comprehensive full-stack applications within the Schwab Data India division. The Data Tools team develops and maintains advanced data solutions such as data lineage platforms, automated data quality testing frameworks, and AI-assisted development tools that enhance productivity for hundreds of ETL engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of scalable full-stack applications, primarily using Python and Angular, with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Utilize AI and Generative AI tools for faster development cycles, automation of repetitive tasks, and improved developer productivity.
• Create and maintain thorough technical documentation, including design specifications and architectural diagrams.
• Ensure high code quality through peer reviews, rigorous unit testing, and best practice adherence.
• Manage sprint deliverables to meet timelines and quality standards in line with team goals.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges across the software stack.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into actionable development tasks.
• Represent the team during presentations and demos to both technical peers and leadership.
• Coordinate with US-based counterparts for knowledge sharing and consistent delivery.
• Support project planning and provide reliable effort estimates.
• Lead and mentor a small team of developers, fostering their career growth and enforcing coding standards.
• Assist recruitment efforts by participating in candidate interviews and technical evaluations.
• Contribute to process improvements and ensure compliance with Schwab's privacy, security, and regulatory policies.
• Support maintenance and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.

Required Qualifications

• At least 8 years of hands-on software development experience focused on building development tools and applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern Angular or React frameworks.
• Experience designing technical solutions in complex environments.
• Skilled in SQL usage and query optimization.
• 1 to 2 years of experience mentoring or leading software development teams.
• Background working with distributed teams and agile development methodologies.
• Preferred experience in data engineering, ETL pipelines, or data platform development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and CI/CD methods.
