Mechanical Technician

About the Role

This position is based physically in Erbil, Kurdistan region, Iraq, offering a gross monthly salary between $1600 and $1700 along with visa sponsorship. The role involves being the technical custodian for specific machinery within the dairy production sector, ensuring excellent maintenance and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of assigned machinery by managing maintenance activities and necessary follow-ups.
• Execute planned maintenance tasks including documentation, performing services, and managing spare parts preparation.
• Carry out mechanical maintenance such as troubleshooting and preventive maintenance activities.
• Contribute to general maintenance including building and external equipment upkeep.
• Provide assistance in basic electrical maintenance tasks when required.
• Support installation and qualification processes for new equipment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality programs like DAMWISE, ISO 9002, HACCP, AIB, DAMAWAY, Neptune, and FSI.
• Maintain effective communication of shift operations through logbooks and meetings.

Required Experience and Knowledge

• Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical process lines.
• Hands-on experience with APV process machinery including homogenizers, plate heat exchangers, centrifugal pumps, and valves.
• Familiar with GIA and Spirax Sarco valves and associated process equipment.
• Expertise in dairy filling machinery, particularly Ultra Clean Machines and related handling mechanisms.
• Experience working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledgeable about additional process equipment such as PCM screw pumps, Ystral mixers, and smoothers.
• Basic understanding of process instrumentation and electrical devices like sensors, motors, and transmitters.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, technical schematics, and manuals efficiently.
• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities.
• Fluency in English and Arabic languages.

Educational and Certification Criteria

• Holds a BSc or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of pertinent technical experience, including expertise in preventive maintenance planning.
