Position Overview
This role entails overseeing, directing, and engaging in activities related to purchasing, receiving, and distributing shop supplies, tools, parts, and associated equipment. The supervisor ensures work quality and adherence to organizational policies while handling complex technical tasks within their scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prioritize, assign, and supervise staff responsible for managing automotive shop tools, parts, and related equipment.
- Develop schedules and procedures for parts services, assess resource requirements, coordinate with management, and allocate resources appropriately.
- Participate in policy and procedure development; monitor compliance; recommend enhancements to standards and practices.
- Assist in defining and implementing departmental objectives and approved guidelines.
- Conduct complex technical tasks, including salvaging trade-in vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive records of parts procurement, stock, and distribution activities.
- Contribute to staff recruitment, training, performance improvement, and disciplinary actions.
- Support budget preparation and management, submit recommendations, and track expenditures.
- Generate analytical and statistical reports on operational performance.
- Manage fuel ordering, delivery operations, and maintenance of three distinct fuel stations.
- Maintain detailed records of fuel station inspections conducted daily, monthly, and annually.
Additional Duties
- Perform special analyses of operational methods concerning parts purchasing and issuance.
- Carry out other related assignments as required.
Minimum Education and Experience
The education and experience requirements may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Associate's degree from an accredited institution or a two-year technical certification in automotive repair or business studies.
- At least four years of experience in automotive repair or parts issuing.
- Minimum of one year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Additional Qualifications
- Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid New Mexico Driver's License by the start date.
- Obtain a City Operator's Permit within six months from employment commencement.
Working Conditions
Environment: Work occurs in shop or warehouse settings with exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, and gases.
Physical: Job functions may require physical effort including heavy, moderate, or light lifting; walking; standing; or sitting for extended periods.
