Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual to join our busy Ancillary team as a Porter at North Somerset Community Hospital in Clevedon. This position provides comprehensive porter services, supporting patients, staff, and visitors across the hospital site with a reliable and efficient approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general security surveillance of all individuals entering and exiting the hospital building.
- Assist patients, visitors, contractors with access and inquiries, and appropriately escalate staff issues.
- Deliver and collect mail between hospital units and departments.
- Handle storage and returns of Medequip equipment in external storage areas.
- Receive deliveries, help with unloading stores, transfer goods to hospital stores and various departments, and distribute general supplies.
- Restock, issue, and ensure proper rotation of stores to maintain good order.
- Manage stores and equipment handling efficiently.
- Transport pharmacy items to wards and clinical areas as required.
- Collect specimens from departments for onward collection.
- Assemble furnishings and replenish linen supplies as needed.
- Transport patients between wards and departments when instructed.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the yard and waste bins.
- Check food deliveries, monitor delivery temperatures, and report discrepancies following food hygiene regulations.
- Remove rubbish, clinical waste, and sharps bins, ensuring bins are emptied regularly and securely.
- Monitor medical gas and oxygen readings and provide replacements as necessary.
