About the Role
Johnson Electric seeks a skilled Powder Blender to join their production team onsite in Stratford, Ontario. This role involves preparing precise metal powder mixtures essential for manufacturing components, with a focus on maintaining material quality, consistent processes, and safety standards in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate powder mixers, screens, and re-grinders to process materials.
- Apply knowledge of Powder Metallurgy procedures to ensure quality.
- Weigh materials accurately using digital scales as per instructions.
- Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of dust collection equipment.
- Conduct powder blend testing to verify specification compliance.
- Maintain daily logs of compact scrap and regrind material tallies.
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines including proper chemical handling and PPE use.
- Ensure processes meet Quality Management and Environmental Health & Safety standards.
- Contribute to workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, SPS, and CI.
- Carry out additional duties assigned within the production setting.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory; post-secondary education is advantageous.
- Three to five years experience in manufacturing, preferably in automotive industry.
- Valid forklift/lift truck operator license required.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong attention to detail paired with fundamental mathematics skills.
- Proven dedication to safety, quality, attendance, and production standards.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- English language proficiency, both oral and written.
Work Conditions
- Indoor manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and changing temperatures.
- Must be able to lift weights up to 50 pounds; assistance available.
- Job requires standing and walking for extended periods.
- Shift schedules may include nights and continuous operation hours.
- Occasional overtime work could be necessary.
