Role Overview

This position, stationed at the Burwash Training Ranges in Ontario, involves providing comprehensive shooting range services for military outdoor training grounds. The Range Keeper reports directly to the Project Manager and must be physically capable of moderate lifting and traversing uneven terrain.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain and repair targets and backings for figures 11 and 12 on the Winona Range, including replacing paper figures and target frames.
Work flexible hours including weekdays, weekends, and evenings to support range scheduling and March in/out procedures.
Conduct inspections of ranges and report maintenance needs; liaise with Department of National Defence (DND), police, civilian users, and subcontractors.
Document and report all incidents such as damages, vandalism, including graffiti, and equipment malfunctions.
Monitor and replenish first aid and firefighting equipment and supplies.
Regularly inspect perimeter fences and ensure vegetation is controlled; execute grass cutting, snow removal, and ice control as per performance standards.
Prune trees and shrubs to maintain tidy grounds and construct or repair target frames to maintain adequate stock.
Perform janitorial maintenance in range buildings, manage pest control, waste disposal, recycling, and ensure supplies for visitors are available.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols and company policies including code of ethics, conduct, confidentiality, and security clearance requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

Valid Ontario driver's license with capability to operate company vehicles and equipment safely.
Experience and knowledge in operating shooting ranges and general property maintenance.
Ability to handle small to medium machinery and tools such as tractors with attachments, power mowers, snow blowers, plows, saws, and hand tools.
Strong communication skills in English along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to superior customer service.
Willingness to work flexible hours and respond promptly to calls.
Must successfully obtain security clearance and comply with company regulations.

The salary for this position aligns with provisions established in the applicable union collective agreement.
