About the Company
Rilla is building software to help map and understand offline conversations. The company focuses on sales coaching for businesses that sell in person and serves more than 1,000 customers, including The Home Depot, KKR, Neighborly, and PulteGroup. Its product helps organizations use AI-driven coaching across their teams.
The company is supported by investors such as Google Ventures, Bessemer Ventures, Crew Capital, and Broom Ventures. The team works from New York City and values speed, ownership, customer focus, and learning through experimentation.
About the Role
This position sits within the Games team and is focused on making the product feel playful, intuitive, and rewarding. The work includes designing UI motion, developing character-driven visuals, and shaping animated experiences that help users feel engaged and motivated.
You will partner with engineering, product, and design to create motion that enhances the app experience and supports customer success. The role also extends into brand and marketing moments, including the website and other visual touchpoints.
This opportunity is best suited to someone who enjoys game mechanics, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and likes experimenting with new ideas to improve product delight and retention.
What the Team Values
- Constant learning and curiosity, with a mindset that keeps growing.
- Deep care for customers and their real problems, rather than vanity metrics.
- Strong accountability, a drive to win, and comfort with fast feedback loops.
- High empathy for people working in the real world, where the product must solve practical needs.
- Comfort with failure as part of the learning process and a willingness to take thoughtful risks.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in motion design, interactive media, game development, or a portfolio of personal work that demonstrates variety and technical strength.
- Hands-on ability with Rive, Lottie, and After Effects, plus a careful eye for detail and production-ready execution.
- Capability in character creation and animation using AI-assisted prompting and iterative creative workflows.
- Experience collaborating with engineers to implement animations while working within technical limitations and optimization needs.
- Understanding of how motion, audio, and haptic feedback combine to create polished product experiences.
- Confidence using AI tools and interest in exploring new software to produce stronger motion work.
- Good judgment for translating a brand’s personality into a distinctive motion language.
- Interest in games and familiarity with game design principles that make interactions feel satisfying and engaging.
Nice to Have
- Portfolio examples similar to Duolingo or other consumer game-style products.
- Experience improving performance for web and mobile animations.
- General 3D capability, including modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation.
Compensation
The position is contract-based and open to remote work. If converted to full-time, the role is expected to be in person in New York City. Pay is offered at $60 to $100 per hour.
